Brazilian soccer star Neymar is making waves by chasing his first major poker title after reaching the final table of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) Super Tuesday High Roller event. The $10,300 buy-in tournament featured 60 entries and a $600,000 prize pool. Neymar, a PokerStars ambassador and poker enthusiast, is one of the final seven players, aiming for the $186,434 top prize. Although he started as a short stack, Neymar’s skill and experience gave him a strong chance to win. This big milestone could mark his breakthrough in the poker world. The event attracts top players worldwide, all fighting for victory.

Lithuania Probes Olybet Over Unauthorised Gambling Ads

Meanwhile, Lithuania’s Gambling Supervisory Authority (LPT) launched an investigation into Olympic Casino Group Baltija, operator of the Olybet brand. This probe targets unauthorised gambling advertising displayed near the White Bridge Fan Zone in Vilnius. Since July 1, Lithuania’s Gambling Law bans outdoor gambling ads except on gambling premises. The Fan Zone, open to families and minors, did not qualify as a sports event or broadcast, so LPT deemed Olybet’s signage illegal. Although the regulator gave prior guidance, it says the rules were ignored. LPT called on Vilnius Municipality to act promptly and ensure compliance.

Lithuania’s Gambling Ad Ban Impact

Lithuania’s ad ban aims to reduce gambling-related harm by limiting public visibility of gambling ads. Operators can only show branding at their sites or approved platforms. Strict rules also apply to radio, TV, and online ads, with a full ban set for 2028. This phased approach highlights the government’s commitment to responsible gambling and consumer protection. The crackdown affects sponsorships and limits outdoor advertisements, reshaping how gambling is promoted in the country.
