Flutter Entertainment has announced the appointment of Stefan Bomhard as an independent Non-Executive Director, starting 1 October 2025. This step shows Flutter’s commitment to fresh leadership and strong governance as the operator expands worldwide. The addition of a new Flutter Non-Executive Director also reflects the company’s promise to strengthen its board renewal strategy.

Bomhard’s Global Experience

Bomhard leaves his role as CEO of Imperial Brands on 30 September 2025 and will finish as executive director in December. With a career that spans global companies like Bacardi, Cadbury, Unilever, Diageo, Inchcape, and Procter & Gamble, he brings deep consumer and brand-building knowledge. Alongside this, he continues to serve as a non-executive director with Compass Group, which further adds to his corporate insight.

Board and Governance Focus

Chairman John Bryant welcomed the appointment and underlined Bomhard’s long record of success in international markets. In addition, Flutter confirmed that the New York Stock Exchange recognized Bomhard’s independent status under its listing standards. This ensures clear compliance with governance requirements and builds confidence with investors.

Growth Context for Flutter

The timing of the appointment connects closely with Flutter’s recent results. In August 2025, the operator reported a 16% jump in group revenue in Q2, reaching $4.19 billion, mainly due to FanDuel’s strong US business and expansion in Europe, Africa, and Brazil. At the same time, net income dropped to $37 million, an 88% fall, as investments and operational costs continued to weigh on profits.

Why This Matters

With Bomhard’s arrival, Flutter gains not only executive depth but also broad marketing and strategy knowledge. This decision strengthens the company at a key expansion stage and positions it well against global competition in the gaming industry.
