The company has specified its intention to explore alternative opportunities.
Betsson Holland has officially pulled out from its planned Gaming acquisition, a move that comes after months of regulatory delays. This highlights a significant shift in the company’s expansion plans. This decision means they will receive a €26.7 million repayment, as the Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) did not clear the deal within the expected timeframe.

Betsson Holland, first announced in February 2024, a strong foothold in the Dutch regulated market through Holland Gaming Technology and Holland Power Gaming, operators of popular sites like Goldruncasino.nl. However, without regulatory approval, Betsson opted to return the rights to the original owners and get its investment back.
Regulatory Delays and Strategic Impact
The Dutch market has proven challenging for Betsson. The company previously withdrew its own license application in July 2023, citing “significant delays” and high costs. By acquiring an already-licensed operator, Betsson hoped to bypass these issues, but the plan was halted by ongoing regulatory uncertainty.
Despite this setback, Betsson clarified that the withdrawal will not affect its consolidated income statement. The group remains financially strong, recently reporting €293.7 million in Q1 2025 revenue and continued growth in new markets like Brazil.
