FATF Updates AML High-Risk Jurisdiction Lists

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has released new AML high-risk jurisdiction lists. This update affects gambling operators in Denmark. The Danish Gambling Authority has reminded all operators about their customer due diligence duties. These rules are part of the Danish AML Act.

FATF Black and Grey Lists: What’s New?

The FATF black list still includes North Korea, Iran, and Myanmar. These countries have the highest AML risks. Operators must be extra careful with customers from these countries.

The grey list has changed. Bolivia and the British Virgin Islands are now on the list. Croatia, Mali, and Tanzania are off. The grey list now includes Algeria, Angola, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, DR Congo, Haiti, Jamaica, Kenya, Laos, Lebanon, Monaco, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, South Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, Vietnam, Virgin Islands (UK), and Yemen.

Danish Gambling Authority Reminder

The Danish Gambling Authority wants operators to check customers who seem risky. This is not just about the FATF lists. Operators should always use strong checks as part of their AML work. The rules help keep gambling safe and fair for everyone.#

Growth in Danish Gambling

The Danish gambling market is growing. In 2024, gross gaming revenue went up 5.6% to DKK 11bn. Online gambling is now 68% of the market. The Authority is also fighting illegal gambling. They work with platforms like Twitch to stop unlicensed games.
